Middleton Place Plantation, Charleston, SC

We took a little road trip to Charleston over the weekend. Took the Argus Bean and my new Mini Diana on a hike around the plantation. What a nice day we had to enjoy and to make some images. Thought I would share a few with you. If you ever get to Charleston, take a half day and tour one of the plantations--it'll be worth you time. All images shot at Middleton Place Plantation.

This was shot from the backseat at 60 miles per hour using my iPhone and "camera bag." I'll call it, Highway Landscapes. Enough testing my new toy. It's time to make some serious images tomorrow. Just another reason I love my iPhone. I see another project coming ...

Now that the my Polaroid project is over, it's time to work on something new. Apple iPhone has a new application out called "Camera Bag" so I thought I would download it and give it a try today. It's an application that gives you more lens-like effects for your iPhone as if you were able to actually change lenses. I like the results and it's kind of fun to use. I'll have to play with this some more.

I hope to create a book for the Polaroid project so look for that soon!

New Polaroid Work!

I'm now able to offer high quality, inexpensive digital reproductions of my Polaroids. These were produced on an Epson 4880 printer using Ultrachrome K3 inks and MOAB's entrada rag bright 300 GSM acid-free paper. These will be offered in an edition of 200 and are available in three sizes. So if you've seen a Polaroid in one of my past posts but wished the piece bigger, now you can have one.

The two prints above are framed in 20.5 x 20.5 inch frames. The image size is 12" x 12". These are priced ready to ship at $200 per piece.

Again, other sizes are available (image size 6" x 6", 12" x 12" and 15" x 15").

Did you catch the sky tonight?

I hope you saw it too. Wow! We just made a quick trip to the store and the sky quickly changed. Amazing color. Well, in case you missed it ... I captured it for you. Shot from the parking lot of Sweetbay. Both views were shot within seconds of each other. I wish I had thought to take one of the dark front coming too.

New Work -- Polaroid Triptychs

This is a sneak peak of some of my Polaroid triptychs I plan on exhibiting this summer. More information to come later ... but stay tuned, you'll be first to hear of the date, time and location.

I also plan to show many of the single images from earlier postings, as well as new ones as they develop in the weeks ahead. The exhibition will most like be a wall installation of 400 plus Polaroids. It will be fun!

And if you're wondering, these will be sold as "originals," one-of-a-kind. With that said, if you see anything you like on this blog so far, shoot me an email (matt.larson@mac.com) and I'll put your name on it (as sold when the exhibit goes up).

McKay Bay Nature Park

Yesterday I had to take a load of stuff out to the city dump just south of Ybor City (34th Street) ... and thought, just in case, I'll take my Polaroid with me. Funny, I've been to the city dump several times and really never noticed a park out this way. The park is very small and is right next to the McKay Bay Waste-to-Energy Facility. I pulled in for a quick look and found these three images waiting for me. So if you're ever out that way ... stop and take a look. Let me know what you find. MAP to McKay Bay Nature Park

Picnic Island Park, Port Tampa

Last weekend I took a little hike to one of my favorite shooting locations, Picnic Island Park in South Tampa. Loaded with lots of film for my Polaroid 600 camera, I did a complete loop around the park. There's always something interesting to photograph in the park.

Picnic Island Park, located in Port Tampa, has a breathtaking view of the city. It encompasses 7.8 acres of sandy beach access. Enjoy a day in the sun and on the beach, go canoeing, picnicing, fishing from the pier or escape and explore Picnic Island Bayou. There is something for everyone at Picnic Island Beach.
